Year 4 week ending 11.10.19

Year 4 week ending 11th October 2019

This week we have been learning to:

Numeracy – we have been multiplying and dividing numbers by 10 and 100.

Literacy – we have researched, planned and drafted reports about volcanoes.

Science – we hare investigating the effect of plaque acid on our teeth and looking at drinks packaging to see sugar levels in popular drinks.

Humanities - we have investigated the most common crimes and punishments in Roman times and discussed how fair the system was.

PSE - this week we watched the BBC live lesson about mindfulness, to tie in with Mental Health Day.

How you can help at home:

Numeracy –  this week the homework has been set using My Maths.  Don't forget to practise your times tables using TT blast on Hwb.

Literacy – this week for big write we have written a film review based on the Horrible Histories movie we saw on Monday. What other films have you seen that you could write a review of? Think about the characters, what rating it is, genre, whether you would recommend it.

Science – look at drinks labels at home and when you are out and about.  Write down the sugar levels they contain.  You could even try drawing the results in a bar graph.

Expressive arts / Humanities - research a famous figure from the Romans and Celts. What were they famous for?

Spellings – please remember to practise your spellings. Try writing them and combing them in sentences or even a story to show you understand them.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Maunder and Mrs Phillips
