Reception Home Learning W/E 22.11.19

This week we have been learning about-

Literacy- Recounts. We created a recount of our secret forest trip. Beginning to use recount words- first, next, then, finally etc.
Sounds- J  v and y.

Numeracy- Counting accurately to 5 and 6.

Creative- Making leaf prints to sell at the Christmas fayre.

Science- Identifying healthy snacks. Identifying foods that we should eat less of.
Listening to sounds of nature.

Humanities- Beginning to understand how people lived hundreds of years ago. At the secret forest, we had the opportunity to look at iron age dwellings.

How to help your child at home-

Literacy- Practise new sounds and recap others. Read simple words from the word time sheets.

Numeracy- Perhaps help your child to pick for eg. 5 toys. Can you count them? How many is 1 more? Check your answer. Can you write number 5 and 6?

We had a lovely day at the Secret Forest. Even though it was cold we kept moving. It was quite magical and very unspoilt. It was just lovely to watch the children throwing leaves around, collecting twigs and just being so aware of their surroundings. The children were noticing the gnarled wood, lichen, colourful forest floor etc which was amazing.

Also if your child is a girl soldier, I don't mind a bit of sparkle in their hair!

Thank you for your support and have a lovely weekend.
