Year Two Week ending 26/6/17

This week we have been learning about:

Literacy: Writing articles for our class newsletter/ magazine
Maths: Estimating profit, counting in 50s and 25s. (and 500s, 250s)
Topic: Writing an invitation in Welsh, preparing for our Summer Fair stall

You can help at home by:

Literacy: Keep listening to your child read daily and help them with their spellings. Write a news article about something you did over the weekend. Think about how to set it out, open with an introduction, include a quote and use a catchy heading.
Maths: I have set two new mymaths activities
Topic: As part of our enterprise project, the children are planning, making and selling newsletters and bracelets to sell at the Summer Fair. They will spend the profit on some equipment which they can use in Year Three.
If you were given a pound, how would you make it grow? Start planning your own, individual project. You only have a pound to buy items. Will you make something? Perhaps you can do some jobs around the house and spend the pound on equipment. Work out your costs and estimate how much you will take and what your profit might be?

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Schartz and Mrs Peacock

Points to remember are not including too much text on each slide, use notes but learn the majority of what you want to say to the audience, bring in props/artefacts if they are appropriate and useful and remember to rehearse your presentation. No my maths has been set to give you time to concentrate on your presentation.

Humanities - please can you collect any types of food packaging that contain information / nutrition on them such as maltesers boxes, packing from around smaller bars of chocolate. These can be brought into school as soon as possible.

Enjoy the half term break,
Mrs Maunder and Mrs Peacock.

Year 6 w.e 5.5.17

The National Tests are finally over! Well done to all the children for their hard work, efforts and patience. It is a horrible time but you've been great.

We will be looking at time and reading time tables next week- I noticed quite a lot of children are still a bit unsure of this. Please practise as much as time and reading of clocks over the next few weeks and converting between analogue, digital and 24 hour. The only way they'll understand it is if they use it.

What interesting facts can you find out about chocolate? Create an information page about what you find out. Additionally you could carry out an experiment of which chocolate melts the fastest- why is that?

Choose a paragraph from one of your favourite books and see if you can uplevel the sentence with various vocabulary and punctuation.
