This week we have been

Science – looking at keeping our teeth healthy.

Expressive Arts – looking at Aztec patterns.

Activities to try at home

Numeracy – using a T.V. guide discuss the different times and how long programmes last. The children found this activity challenging especially if the programme was 45 minutes long and didn’t start on the hour.  Ask your child questions relating to the times e.g. How long does the news last on Tuesday night?  What programme lasts for 1 hour on Wednesday morning?

Science – find out interesting facts about teeth.  How many teeth do you have as a child?  How many teeth will you have as an adult?  What are the different types of teeth called?  What do they do?  Why is it important to visit the dentist?

Expressive Arts – have a look at different Aztec patterns – can you create your own pattern?

Remember it is our school trip to Cadbury World on Monday – you need to remember to bring a packed lunch and drinks and a snack and a drink for the bus on the way back.  Please try and ensure you use containers which can be disposed of and remember you will need to carry your bag around with you throughout the day.

Year Two week ending 9th June 2017

This week we have been learning about:

Maths: Doubling and halving 2 and 3 digit numbers, counting money,
Literacy: Writing instructions and typing up documents on word
Topic: Creating bracelets and the newsletter to sell at the School Fete

You can help at home by:

Maths: new mymaths activities have been set.
Project: Over the next six weeks, your child will be taking part in an enterprise project. As an introduction, i  gave the class £20 to start two projects which would raise money at the school Fete. We took the children through the whole process: gathering ideas, costing, ordering materials, estimating profits, making the product and selling the product. Next week we will be counting our takings, subtracting the £20 and working out our profit. From this profit we will be giving each child £1 which they will take home and 'grow'! The idea is that they go through the same process that we did in class but on their own at home. They will have the rest of the term to carry out the project and there will be a prize at the end of the term for the child who raises the most money.  Once they have completed their project they need to bring their profit into school and we will total it up. The children have decided that they will use the profit raised to buy something which they can take with them into Year Three. I will send out a letter next week with the pound coins but until then you can make a start on gathering ideas and costing it out. (Well done to those children who have already completed this stage - they came up with some wonderful ideas.) Good Luck!

Have a lovely weekend and well done to all on a fantastic Sport's Day.
