Dosbarth 6 home learning w.e 14.2.20

Over half term I would like year 6 pupils to continue to work in their dragon projects for presentation during the last week of term. Remember this can be on anything relating to our topic.

Also they can complete the homework for ready for our Eisteddfod.

Key Stage Two homework
We would like the children to draw/make a Welsh landscape. This can be interpreted however the children would like, for example it could be a 2d pencil sketch, painting, 3d model made from recycled objects etc. Let your imagination run free and use any materials/media you would like. The size is to be A4 width and height.

Also the recital for our Eisteddfod will be judged in yr6 on Wednesday 26th February.

Have a lovely half term.

Year 1 homework

Good afternoon,

Thank you for all the wonderful work you have done with the Children this term. We have been preparing some lovely poems for our eisteddfod this week, looked at writing reports on castles, created some lovely valentines cards and looked at number bonds to twenty (Pairs of numbers that make twenty).

To help support the children for eisteddfod could you practice the song they will be performing “aderyn melyn”. I have included a video link for you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I52fbzsfTxY

To support over the holidays you could continue the number bond work using computer games: https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/funkyMummy/index.html (easier as they can keep guessing until they get an answer)

https://www.mathplayground.com/number_bonds_20.html

For literacy to continue the report writing theme you could get them to design their own newspaper front cover on 1 activity/interest that they do over the half term.

Have a lovely half term,

The year 1 team

Year 4 week ending 13th February 2020

This week we have been learning to:

Numeracy – we have been learning about the difference between grid references and co-ordinates, drawing our own dragon maps and setting each questions about them.

P.E – our dragon dances are now complete, ending in a dramatic battle between several dragons.

Science and Technology –

How you can help at home:

The focus for the half term holiday will be for our Eisteddfod.  Attached is a poem which we would like the children to learn off by heart, in preparation for the recitation.

Two little dogs go to the woods,

A new shoe on each foot;

Two little dogs coming home

Having lost one of their shoes.

Two little dogs.

Two little dogs go to town

Wanting something nice for tea

Two little dogs buy a cake

And come home happy.

Two little dogs.

Two little dogs go to a party

Wearing fancy dress;

Two little dogs eat a sandwich

And drink pop from a cup.

Two little dogs.

Year 4 Home Learning- Mrs Maunder and Mrs Phillips W/E 7.1.20

In Maths- Time telling. Converting between analogue and digital. Some children went on to 24 clock times too.

In ICT-We carried on with our work on digital footprints and began to talk about keeping ourselves safe on the internet. We discussed what information was appropriate to share with others online.

In Humanities we began to look at animal adaption and how animals are suited to the environment they live in. We talked about camels and their large thick feet and long eyelashes for example.

At home you can-

Maths- look and talk about times as much as possible. Some children didn't find it easy this week, so the more practise the better. Ask them to write out digital times for times you say, so for example, ten to 4 being 3.50. Maybe you could draw out some analogue clock times and some corresponding digital times (jumbled up) and ask them to match them. There are lots of games online to look at too.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Search.aspx?q=telling+time

There is homework set on My Maths too.

Humanities- Choose an animal to find out a bit more about how it is adapted to its environment. Write some facts to share with us all.

Start having a look at pictures of dragon eyes in preparation for designing and creating our own models.

Remember to practise your weekly spellings and high frequency words from reading record diaries. Keep working on 3 and 4 times tables too.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Maunder and Mrs Phillips

Spelling and times tables test on Monday.  Have a lovely weekend.
