Reception Home Learning 31.3.20

Reception Class Tuesday 31st March

To the Parents and children of Reception Class.

I hope your week has started well. If possible, try and do some aerobic activity daily, just to get your heart beat going. It could be jogging, star jumps, burpees, running on the spot, skipping, squats, lunges etc. Start with 10 minutes and build up to half an hour. Before you know it, it will be an hour. However if you are doing the daily Joe Wicks workout, then maybe don't overdo it. This is a chance to get us all fit and make you and your child feel healthier.

Literacy

Mrs Garbett's group

oo sound- took look book shook

Today will be the oo (look at a book) sound. Make 4 words with oo sound. Get your child to identify the special friends (oo) and then blend and read the word. After a few recaps you can say the word for your child to write down. Do this with the 4 words and then 1 recap word (ow word). Mark together. Remember to use tall and short letters, (they are not all the same size). Tall letters should touch the top of the line and small letters half way. If you can see your child forming letters incorrectly, just practise a line of one of them. Dictate this sentence several times and then encourage your child to write it down- Then you will be a frog. Mark together and write out again if it needs to be corrected. If you can see your child forming letters incorrectly, just practise a line of one of them.

Mrs Miles group

Word Time 4-ship fan lip had

Recap all initial sounds. This is really important. Say the words above in FRED TALK (say each syllable rather than say the word). Encourage your child to tell you what you have said. Only tell them the word if you have said it several times and they still don't know. Then dictate one word at a time and encourage your child to write it down. Mark together. Please support your child to form letters correctly with the handwriting sheet that they should have in their sound folders. Also perhaps play fastest finger with the sounds learnt so far.

Numeracy.

Sorting/counting

This can be done using items that are indoors or out. You can record in your book or complete orally.

All Children-Find 4 things that are made of metal, 3 things made of plastic, 2 things made of paper and 1 thing that is shiny. Count your objects. Which material have you collected the most of/least? Can you add together the number of plastic things and the shiny object? Record your answer. Repeat with other numbers.

Most- Find 6 objects made of paper, 7 objects made of plastic and 8 objects that are made from glass. You can draw them if you like to help with the sums. Check you have counted correctly. Which material have you collected the most of/least? How many objects are made of paper and plastic? Record your answer. For eg. 6+7= Repeat with other sums.

Challenge- As above, but collect different materials with numbers above 10. If you took 1 away, how many? Complete some addition/subtraction sums.

Mindfulness. First thing in the morning if you can. The whole family, you all need this!

Rings of Light

·         Sit mindfully, with your spine straight and body relaxed.

·         Notice your breathing. Take 3 soft, slow, mindful breaths and feel them in your body.

·         Imagine a glowing white light of wisdom between your eyebrows.

·         Breathe out and send the light out and around you like a ring of protection.

·         Now see a red light of courage inside your mouth. Breathe out and send that light around you.

·         Finally see a blue light of calm inside your heart. Send the blue light around you as a third ring of protection

·         Take a moment to feel safe inside the rings of light around you.

·         Carry that safe feeling with you into your day.
