I hope you are all staying safe and well. It's very strange not seeing you all but I hope you're doing a little bit at home and enjoying having time with your families. The weather has improved which is always good, so make sure you get outside in the garden and make the most of the fresh air.
RWInc have introduced some live lessons via YouTube so they will help us keep our 'sounds on the boil' whilst we are at home. These will take place daily and can be located via the following link:
Set 1 Speed Sounds at 9.30 am and again at 12.30 pm
Set 2 Speed Sounds at 10.00 am and again at 1.00 pm
Set 3 Speed Sounds at 10.30 am and again at 1.30 pm
Note: films won't be available at other times
There are also a range of ebooks and tips on the OxfordOwl Website if this is something you want to look at, but please don't put unnecessary pressure on yourself and your children during these challenging times. If you wish to have a browse the link is:
Also, there are life PE lessons with Joe Wicks at 9.am daily on YouTube. A great way to start the day for all the family.
Literacy:
Today will be some research about Big Ben. You can record this in the books you brought home from school or using J2e5 via Just2easy via Hwb. You may like to use the Encyclopedia Britannica which is available via Hwb as a starting point for your safe search into Big Ben. The encyclopedia also has different reading levels available. (If you click 1, 2 or 3 above the text, it will alter the text level). Record any interesting facts you find ready to use in Big Write tomorrow. Your challenge today is to find out how Benjamin Hall is linked to Big Ben and our local area- good luck, enjoy your research.
Reading: We are mindful that you will have read your reading book by now but don't forget to read a book if you have one at home or listen to a story read by someone in your home. You can also access books (inc RWInc Books) via www.oxfordowl.co.uk (the home section). You will need to log on but the e-books can be accessed for free.
Numeracy:
Today please find in the Year 1 Hwb Class folder a resource helping us look at weight and mass. The focus is on the heavier or lighter object and what happens to the balance scales. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ (lesson 1)
The activity also provides an opportunity to revisit the names of 3d shapes. Can you find 3d shapes at home, name them and identify which is heavier, lighter or balanced/ the same. This does not need to be printed out and stuck in your book.
To challenge yourself try and use these objects or objects from around the home to weigh using a scales. What unit of measure do we use? Ask an adult to help you with this it could be done whilst doing some baking! That would be fun and scrumptious too!
Health & Well Being:
Today we would have PE so after your PE Lesson with @thebodycoach at 9am have a go at some of our Yoga moves. We have used the MiniMeYoga cards in our lessons before I've included 4 here to ensure we remain balanced. Try and teach someone in your home the positions, so they learn a new skill too. We would love to see some pictures especially if you manage to do them outside in the fresh air! Next time I'll include our favourite, Tickle Toes!!
Finish by doing some MIndfull Colouring #relax
