Literacy
To place items in alphabetical order
Using BBC daily lesson here
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zsv6wnb children will sort various words into alphabetical order. Before starting this activity however, first of all ask your child to recite the alphabet to ensure confident. Then play a quick game where you give them 2 different letters and they have to state which letter comes first. This is surprisingly tricky for some! It is good to get the children start to become confident with the order of the alphabet without always having to go back through it. Try to develop this so they become confident and quick with ordering. Work through the activities on the website below. The children will also be looking at ordering words which start with the same letter- having to look at the second letter. To add even more of a challenge to finish off the activity  you may decide to time them when ordering some given words.

Maths
To work out costs and times
Using the Circus price/time list on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB, complete the questions given which can also be found in the folder. When adding with money, remind children that it is exactly the same as adding normally but we have a . or £ or p. We can take all of those away if it is easier and then add them back in at the end. It is important they know that only 2 numbers should be after a . in money. Use the method your child is most confident with for adding.

Topic
To design a clown face
Think about what clowns look like. What features do they typically have? Big nose, bright big eyes and mouth, rosy cheeks etc. Have a look at some pictures of clowns seeing how many different varieties you can find. Think about your circus you designed, you are now going to design a clown to go in your circus.
You may want to face paint this on somebody- if you're allowed!
You may decide to paint an egg for your clown and by adding things to it for the hair
You may draw it
You may decide to use a balloon as your clown face to design
You may want to make a clown face and use an animation programme
Papier mache
Remember your clown doesn't have to be your typical clown look- make it as exciting, creative and interesting as you can.

Enjoy!
