Literacy
To plan a story
Yesterday you would have used the BBC lessons to look at the different structures in story writing. Recap this thinking about what you include in a beginning, middle and end.  Today you are going to plan a story of your choice. It could be completely made up, it could be a follow on from your favourite book or it could be based on real life. I want you to think carefully about what you will include in the beginning, middle and end and think carefully about your choice of description. Remember to try not to use more than 2 descriptive words at a time e.g. the crumbling, derelict house is better than the crumbling, derelict, creepy, old stone house. Focus on quality rather than quantity as well. Break your plan into 6 sections- beginning, middle, end, characters, setting, description. Here you can then make notes/ jot down all of your ideas in these sections. It is up to you where you plan it- on paper or on the computer, likewise when writing your story tomorrow.

Maths
To tell the time
Yesterday you would have recapped telling the time with a focus on 5 minutes to and past. Today you're going to recap o clock and half past and quarter past and quarter to. Using the BBC links below, work through the activities. Remember to use it as much as you can throughout the day to practice.

Topic

To find out more about the circus and answer questions

On the Year 2 shared folder on HWB are 4 different quick reading comprehensions. They are short extracts with a small amount of questions to go with them. Try to complete all 4 comprehensions as they are only small. This is good practice for skills in inference/ deduction/ sequencing/ retrieval/vocabulary. Try to get the children to read them independently and have a go at the questions at first- or work through 1 together then allow them to complete the rest independently.

Enjoy!
