This week sees us approach another Bank Holiday, which if we were in school would be celebrating together very differently. As that cannot be, we want to celebrate together whilst Staying at Home! Please find on our Hwb Classroom a file of activities that you might like to complete to prepare the perfect VE Day Stay at Home Party. Please try to save any of the activities or pictures in your folder on J2e or email them to me so we can share 'Trellech's Stay at Home VE Day' events.
RWInc will continue to have live lessons via YouTube so they will help us keep our 'sounds on the boil' whilst we are at home. These will take place daily and can be located via the following link:
Speed Sounds 2 and 3 are now being repeated so please allow a moment at the start of the lesson to allow them to reload.
Literacy & Humanities:
Today we are going to design an invitation or card (for someone who can't join you) for a family member to join your VE Day Party. Remember to include who it is for, what time and what you might do during the tea party and what you might eat.
I've added some resources to help you understand why we are celebrating VE Day. The following link can be used to listen to Churchill's VE Day Speech to the Nation.
In this scene, Winston Churchill has just delivered his VE day speech to the nation. If you want to find out more about what he said, follow the link https://winstonchurchill.org/resources/speeches/1941-1945-war-leader/to-v-e-crowds/
You will find a Powerpoint which will help you understand the importance of us celebrating VE Day as well as a reading activity that you may like to complete.
Numeracy
Today you will need to use your skills to weigh ingredients to make items for your VE Stay at Home party.
Can you read the scale accurately? What unit of measure do we use to weigh our ingredients?
I have added a sheet to help you read the weight/ mass of an item on a scale before you have a go with your own ingredients.
Please also find a variety of recipes that might help you prepare for your VE Day Party.
