One of the activities we have been doing in school is looking at Newsround. On one of these days Newsround had a segment called Mental health: Five creative self-care ideas. We thought it would be brilliant if we looked at these areas for our weeks learning. You can watch the segment here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52998978
Topic-Stress ball.
One of the suggestions for the soothe box was a stress ball and so we are going to have a go at creating your own. Please see this video for one easy way to create your own stress ball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz5iEBdJM84
- Bronze. Create your own stress ball.
- Silver. Give your stress ball a name and a crazy face.
- Gold. In the video she guesses how much flour is needed. I would like you to improve her method and find out just how much flour is needed. There are a number of ways to do this and I would like you to experiment for yourself. You will need a way to measure the flour. (Note for parents. They can measure the flour using a small cup or in grams. The easiest way is when the balloon is full just pop it into the weighing scales.)
Maths-0 clock
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/znhp7yc. We shall use this lesson to look at O clock times. It would be useful to go through the first slideshow as a reminder.
- Bronze. Complete the second slideshow.
- Silver. Whats the time Mr Wolf but with clocks. Using a clock play the game What’s the time Mr Wolf. This game is for 2+ players. The sheep says, “What’s the time Mr Wolf” The wolf then shows them an O clock time using a clock and the sheep has to move that number of steps and shout out the time. If they get it wrong the wolf can shout dinner time and eat the sheep. (You would then swap)
- Gold. Activity 1. As an extension they write the digital time under the clock as well.
English-Continue the journaling from yesterday. (See below for reminder)
We are going to create our own thought journal for the week and you may continue this further if you enjoy it. This is were we record our own thoughts using words and drawings. These thoughts can be both good and bad.
- Bronze. Write down or draw one thought that has been on your mind that day
- Silver. Write down one good thought, even if it is something small, about yourself. If you are really struggling as a friend or family member.
- Gold. Do not forget to keep track of the days in your journal. Write down the date at the top. As a rule you must always end on one good thought every day.
