Literacy
To plan and write a story
Carrying on from yesterday you should have planned your story and now be ready to write a story for a 500 word competition linked to Black lives matter. I am sure you will have seen and your children maybe aware around the recent 'BLM' campaigns/ protests/events etc. I want you to chat about this and link it back to equality. You may decide to touch upon some basic history as to why this all started etc.
The links above give you more information about the competition and how you can enter. Remember it is only 500 words. It can be as creative and imaginative as you like but it must link to the 'BLM' movement/ issue. I look forward to reading some!
Maths
To divide with remainders
We have already looked at dividing or sharing but with fair/ equal numbers. Now we are going to look at sharing where there are remainders. Ask your child what they think a remainder is? What does it mean? Explain it means it's left over or 'remains.' I would start with using practical objects just to show how this works. E.g. 8 divided by 3. Get 8 objects and share them between 3 people or groups. Then look at how many are left. We then look at how many each of the 3 people have- 2. and there are 2 left over. So we say 2 r 2. On the Year 2 shared folder on HWB are some activities and a powerpoint to help you. Your child maybe confident enough to apply and see their times table knowledge and work it out without the need to work practically or in diagrams.
Topic
To design a poster advertise your circus
Now you have designed your own circus including the tent/ acts/ performers etc I want you to design and create a poster advertising your circus. Remember it needs to be catchy and persuasive- we want people to come and watch and to look at your poster! Think about the location/ time and date of your circus. Will there be food and drink available? What animals will you have (if any)? How will you advertise the acts to make them sound exciting and out of this world? What pictures will you have to make it look interesting and make people want to go?
Enjoy!
