Literacy
To write a story
Yesterday you would have planned your story thinking about your beginning, middle and end, setting, characters and descriptive words. Today you are going to write it using whatever medium you wish- computer or paper. I'm not looking for length but more so good quality. The easiest way to write a story is past tense- it has already happened. Try not to add too much speech as it can get confusing to read, write and follow. Your story can be about anything you like as stated yesterdays blog. If you find it is taking longer than planned- why not write just the beginning of the story with the aim of writing the middle and end over the next few days? A success criteria you may wish to follow-
past tense
a clear beginning, middle, end
no more than 3 characters (for ease)
description ( no more than 2 describing words at once)
capital letters for names
I look forward to reading some of your stories.
Maths
To measure hours and days
Using the BBC lessons to finish off some activities linked to time following the link here https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zbx6wnb
Work through the activities on there and see if your child can remember/ recall time throughout the summer holidays. Encourage them to tell the time at all opportunities. Please also practice the timestables- 2/5/10 in particular for speedy and confident recall and if confident then 3 and 4 timetable. Topmarks or TTblast on J2E are good for this.
Topic/PE
To learn about movement
This BBC lesson links to PE in that it looks at the fundamentals of movement in PE/movement/sports etc. Before completing the activities on the link
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zwfvtrd talk about how we move. What do you think helps make us move? How do we move? Why is exercise and movement good for us? What do you think keeps us safe when exercising/ moving? Complete the activities on the link above. It would be lovely to see some photos of your activity.
Tomorrows activity for topic will be linked to the bubble work carried out on Monday. I have uploaded the resources and instruction sheet to the Year 2 shared folder on HWB so you have some time to get the resources should you wish to do so/ need to. I imagine most of you will have them or something similar. It is a really fun activity that the children will love so if you can, please do try!
Enjoy!
