Year 2 Monday 11th May 2020

Welcome back to another week of home learning! I hope you enjoyed your VE Day celebrations and bank holiday weekend.

Literacy
To create a labelled diagram
This will form some topic work as well as literacy in the skills that you will use. Have a look at The BBC bitesize daily lesson about parts of a plant
Read and work through the introduction and information including a quiz. There is also a powerpoint and loop cards to help you/ give you extra information on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB. I want you to draw your own flower with the parts needed e..g roots/ leaves/ stem etc and I want you to label each part telling me the function and purpose of each. I want you to use full sentences, including capital letters, full stops, commas if needed and also your best handwriting. Try to spell the words yourselves instead of copying, using your sounds to help you. There is a speed sound chart also on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB from a few days ago so you might want to scroll down.

Bronze- label the stem/ petal/root/ leaves with basic functions
Silver- label the stem/ petal/ root/ leaves/ anther in full sentences
Gold- label the stem/ petal/ root/ leaves/ anther/ ovule/ sepal (use the loop cards on Year 2 shared folder on HWB to help you) in full sentences

Maths
To add and subtract 2 digit numbers and tens
Using BBC bitesize daily lessons
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zbypscw  have a look at the introduction video on different ways of adding. Remember to use what you know. 3 + 1= 40 so 30+ 10= 40. We simply make it a tens. Same with hundreds 300 + 100= 400.
There are 2 activities and 1 interactive game linked to this as you will see on the page. There is no reason why you can't have a go at all 3 or choose which activities are most suited. There are some 'mastery' and prove it activities, solve the answers and colour accordingly to reveal a picture and then an online interactive game.
Topic/ DT
To design and make an animal mask
This will be your topic work for today and tomorrow. First of all have a look at some different mask designs. They come in various shapes and sizes. On the Year 2 shared folder on HWB are some different templates you may wish to look at and use.  First of all design your mask. Think about what woodland animal you would like to be and design how your mask will look. You may choose to look online at some ideas once you have chosen your animal. Think about the materials and colours you will need. You may have to think about what resources you have at home available. A piece of card/ paper/ cardboard from a cereal box will do the trick for the Mask itself. Then you may need some wool/ string/ elastic to go around your head. Design your mask on a sheet of paper first, labelled clearly with the materials you will be using, including colouring it in. Then once you have designed it you can start to think about making it with your materials.

Enjoy!
