Literacy
To use and understand homophones
Carrying on from the work yesterday, I want you to see how much your child has remembered. Recap some homophones. I want them to complete the sentences that on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB- they must choose the correct homophone. I would like them to write out the sentences as it helps with handwriting/ spelling/ copying skills etc. Ensure they are copying correctly. Once they have complete this, give them a set of homophones. Ask them to write their own sentence using the correct homophone. They may choose to do one for each homophone. Encourage accurate spelling using sounds- the speed sound chart is still on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB

Maths
To solve challenges
Today I want you to work through some of the challenges set on BBC Bitesize. They are teamed up with white rose maths. They are on each of the links below. Some of them are fairly simple so encourage your child to work through them independently.

Topic

To know the lifecycle of a butterfly

Discuss what a life cycle is. Explain how we all have a life cycle and discuss some examples. Ask them if they know/ can remember any parts of a butterfly life cycle. There is a powerpoint on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB. The children are to then draw and label the life cycle of a butterfly in any way they like. There are some activities/ templates/information on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB should they wish to use that. Once done, they could also do the same for a lifecycle of a different woodland animal of their choice.

There are also some acitivties/ links for the Hay festival online which has been tweeted by Trellech. The activities and stories are aimed more at Y3+ however, you may wish to still have a look.

Enjoy!
