I then will tell you why I think that I can get across it if I try."

Matching letters

This activity to complete over the week.

If you have some bottle tops[DM1] [DM2] [DM3] [DM4] , please could you write m  n  o  p  q  r  s  M  N  O  P  Q  R  S on each top, then have a go during the week to match the small case letter to the capital letter. Explain to your child that they have a capital letter at the beginning of their name and when we write a sentence. Can you think of anyone that has one of these letters at the beginning of their name?

Numeracy

Keep these activities on the boil-

Counting to 20 and beyond

Forming numbers correctly

Identify numbers 10-20

Doubles to 10

Addition to 10

Days of the week

Subtraction to 10

Teen numbers

Finding patterns in 100 square- I am hoping you can get access to a 100 square. If not perhaps you can make one or make one together. Look at the 100 square together and discuss any familiar numbers. For e.g. ages, house number etc. Then, can you see 100? What do you notice as the numbers go down? (All 2nd digit numbers are the same?). Can you find the 30's family? 50's family? Count as far as you can and point to each number.

All Children-Count to 20 pointing to each number. Take it in turns with your child to colour in numbers of significance- siblings age, mum and dads age etc. Use the numbers that your child is confident with, but then give them a little challenge too.

Most Children- If you as the adult, colour in a particular pattern, say all the 60 numbers. Then encourage your child to find a pattern and colour it in. Why have you chosen that pattern? It's just so that your child realises there are bigger numbers that exist and they do form patterns.

Challenge-As above but do some quick fire questions. Can you find 51?  45?  81? Etc. Can your child recognise different patterns in the number square? Can you recognise 45 without having to go back to the beginning of the number square? It's knowing that all the 40 numbers are placed together, all the 70 numbers are placed together etc.

Topic- Over the week.

Last week I asked you to identify some wild flowers. I know lots of you have worked really hard to find various species. It's surprising how many we can find in our own garden. Did you find a buttercup, daisy, dandelion, cow parsley, cornflower, bird's foot trefoil, knapweed, cowslip, and nettle-leaved bellflower? There are so many more too.

Wildlife collage

Now the activity we are going to do now is for Father's Day next Sunday. You can also send one to your grandad, uncle etc. You can do this digitally or by drawing- Whatever you choose it will be treasured forever by the person you give it too.

Digitally

Can you take some really close up photos of some wildlife? It could be a spider's web, a snail, a busy bee on a flower or any wildflower. Then if you print these photos off and glue them on to a piece of A4 card. Punch 2 holes at the top and thread some string, ribbon or wool so it can be hanged in a favourite place. On the back, of your collage, you can write a lovely message. Don't forget to record at the bottom- Lockdown 2020.

To make this by drawing

If you get a piece of A4 paper and fold to make 8 rectangles, just like we did when we make a Kandinsky painting. Then sketch and colour eight pieces of wildlife as above. Then glue your completed drawings on a piece of A4 card and follow the instructions as above. This will be adored and admired for a very long time. Let me know how you get on.

Creative- This can be completed over the week, so take your time and complete the steps carefully

Make a Father's Day card in the style of Kandinsky. Shhhhhh

You can always make one for someone special in your life too.

So if you get a piece of A4 paper and trim about a centimetre from around the edge and fold in half. Then cut into 2 pieces. 1 of these pieces will be to write your special message inside the card. After that make up some watery paint and wash over one of the pieces of paper- remember not to wet the paper too much otherwise it will rip. When the paint is dry, make a big tree, with a truck and spirally branches. Perhaps you can model one so your child understands the expectations. Now you can paint this any colour you like. The next stage is to paint some Kandinsky circles on a separate piece of card- say about 10 circles. But it depends on the size of each circle how many you use. I'm going to suggest card only because paper can curl when it's cut out. When you create these circles, don't forget to have a go at mixing various colours just like a real artist. Make the coloured circles of different sizes but not too big as they are going to be stuck on the tree. So say about 3cm-4cm diameter max. Remember the circles with have various colours just like Kandinsky. Now you can glue the piece of paper with the trunk on, onto a piece of folded A4 card. When the Kandinsky circles are dry, cut them out and stick randomly on the spirally branches. It's okay for them to overlap off the edge of the card. On the other piece of paper you have, you can get your child to write a special message which can then be glued into the card. Remember to draw lines for your child to write so their letters can be formed correctly. On the back of the card write- In the style of Kandinsky. Lockdown 2020.

I really hope you have been able to understand these instructions! This will be amazing.

Mindfulness

Shake the sillies out

Stand still like a statue. Breathe in and hold your breath.

Breathe out and shake out your arms. Shake them high, shake them low.

Shake out your legs. Shake them this way and shake them that way.

Shake your body until it's loose. Shake, shake, shake your sillies out. See them fly off you like water droplets. Flop down gently into a chair or onto a mat. Now let that last silly out. Ahhhhhh!

Take three soft, slow, mindful breaths. Fill your nose, your lungs and your tummy. Then return to your day.
