Year One- Thursday 11th June

Literacy

Today we are going to think about the things that are special to us. During this time of not being in school we will have had time to think carefully about the things that are important to us. I know I have; I have even found some very special places during my daily walk that have a special meaning to me now!

We are going to present them in whichever way you like, I might do mine in a heart shape- because they are things that I love! You can use drawing, a collage of items to present your special items....it's up to you

Bronze: Draw/ create a collage of special things.

Silver: Label your special items.

Gold: Write a description explaining why each item is special to you.

RWInc will continue to have live lessons via YouTube so they will help us keep our 'sounds on the boil' whilst we are at home.  These will take place daily and can be located via the following link:

Speed Sounds 1,  2 and 3 are now being repeated so please allow a moment at the start of the lesson to allow them to reload.

Numeracy

Today we are going to begin to understand clockwise as a direction of turn. We are going to remember to  think of a clock face, and the movement of the hands transfer that direction to the new thing

In the class folder is a Powerpoint to help you. However, I'm sure you'll have much more fun going outside and trying to turn in a clockwise direction. Try to turn when playing a game with your family, giving directions to move around. Can you turn in a clockwise direction whilst riding your bike, walking on your daily walk, taking your doll for a walk in its pram etc?

You might also like to use Just2Easy to direct the 'turtle' in Jit5....some of you have already you this app so now try to use the word 'clockwise' when giving the instruction.

Bronze: to move in a clockwise turn

Silver: to create a trail giving instructions for someone to follow ensuring you use the term 'clockwise'.

Gold: to create a trail/ set of instructions using the term clockwise.....can you include the instruction 'anti clockwise'...let me know what you think it means?

Humanities & Well Being

Important to have a healthy mind so make sure you try some yoga, do an online workout, complete the Daily Mile or go for a good walk. Always crucial to fuel our body with some fresh air!

Linked to the Satellite Mission last week. Today we will access the Sport Wales Play to Learn Activities once again. In our class folder in Hwb you will find the story linked to this set of activities called 'Planet Play'. We also used this book last week There you can also find an activity to carry out at the level you feel is most accessible for you. (Bronze, Silver and Gold). Today 'Space Shake' will help us to express our ideas through a range of movements, link a series of actions together with some fluency to create a dance phrase to include moments of stillness and gesture to enhance expression.

As this week we see the second week of 30DaysWild for the @wildlifetrusts....use your time to get outside and complete some random acts whilst taking care of your well-being and physical health.

Our Eco School Wales theme this week is 'Biodiversity' and we want to see your animal masks #EcoSchoolsatHome Many animals are losing their homes, food + water supplies and their habitats. Read about some of these animals here https://bit.ly/3cBgKHc along with mask templates + ideas
