Good Morning. I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed a fun and relaxing time together. This would have been the second half of our Spring Term together so that means over half of our time in year 3 is already over L.
Here are the activity levels for your work as a reminder:
Bronze – all complete Silver – additional challenge |
Gold – high challenge
Literacy: HF words for this week – Copy out the following to learn for a test on Friday.
without, enough, country, father, mother, picture, during, sure, heard and change
L.O: Recognise and use past tense verbs
When we write stories, diaries or reports we can write in the past tense. Sometimes it can get a little tricky to remember what tense we are in and we can mix up present and past. Many past tense verbs end in 'ed' these are called regular verb endings. Here are some:
walk – walked call - called
play - played kick – kicked
Irregular verbs include:
sing – sang eat – ate
Bronze Level - Copy these sentences. The verbs are all in the PRESENT TENSE.
Underline each verb and write out the sentence again in the PAST TENSE.
The first one has been done for you.
A) 1) Peter is drying his face. Yesterday Peter dried his face.
2) Sarah is reading a comic.
3) Joshua is playing a guitar.
4) Noel is painting a picture.
5) Sian is combing her hair.
6) Chad is watching television.
7) Steve is kicking a ball.
8) Kirsty is dressing her doll.
9) Mike is climbing a tree.
10) Mr. Jones is having a cup of coffee.
Silver Level – Find the past tense for these irregular verbs and write sentences using them: stick, are, have, begin, break ( a glass), lose, ride, swim, bring, forgave
Gold Level – Write a paragraph to include all the past tense words from Silver Level so it makes sense. What other irregular past tense verbs can you find?
Numeracy:
Warm up: Make 100
63 + ? =
The units digit needs to add to 10 So 3 + 7 =10
The tens digit needs to make 9 So 6 + 3 = 9
The 3 goes in the tens column and the 7 in the units column so 37
63+37 = 100
Try:
47 + ? = 100
82 + ? = 100
24 + ? = 100
55 + ? = 100
31 + ? = 100
TT Blast which is an interactive game to help with times tables speed. You can access this daily to improve on score and speed.
