22 April - To learn how to use adjectives in your writing by writing about a newly discovered land. www.bbc.co.uk |
What do you think each of these lands were like? Write a sentence for each land describing what each one is like (remember to use describing words). Once you've written your sentence for each land, think about a new land that you would like to create - you can be really imaginative. Choose a name for your land and try to write six sentences to describe what it looks like. Make sure you include describing words (adjectives) in all of your sentences.
Silver- think about a new land, being as creative as you can. Write some sentences about your land to describe what it look likes and what is there. Use adjectives in your descriptions. Write a mini chapter about what happens in your land.
- First write the name of your land (that will be the title of your story).
- You can then write some sentences describing what it is like there including what you can see/ smell/ hear (you could use your sentences you have created if you'd like).
Remember to write in full sentences with capital letters and full stops at the end of your sentences.
Gold- think about a new land, being as creative as you can. Write some sentences about your land to describe what it look likes and what is there. Use adjectives in your descriptions. Write a mini chapter about what happens in your land. You can even create a character who you meet there.
- First write the name of your land (that will be the title of your story).
- You can then write some sentences describing what it is like there (you could use your sentences you have created if you'd like).
- Introduce a new character who lives in the land and explain what they do there. Are they kind or mean?
Remember to write in full sentences with capital letters and full stops at the end of your sentences.
Maths
To count 4 ways
You have had a go at counting in 1/2/5/10 and some of you 3's forwards and backwards from any given number. Now we will be looking at counting in 10/20/50/250. Start off by choosing a number and have a go at counting in 10's. Choose another number and do the same- forwards and backwards. When confident have a go at then counting in 20's, 50's and 250's. Remind the children it is adding on 10/20/50/250 each time. If you feel necessary, you can have a go at adding 100 and 150 first if easier before counting in 250. The activities set are on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB. Remember you can have a go at any challenges set and it might be a good idea to complete at least 1 activity sheet from each of them if possible please.
Bronze- complete the 2 activities counting in 10 and 20
Silver- complete 1 activity from all of them- 10/20/50/250
Gold- complete both activities from all of them- 10/20/50/250
Topic
Today and tomorrow's lessons are linked to David Attenborough on 'Life.' On the link there are powerpoints/ videos to watch and look at. This will be the basis of the lesson with some activities to follow. The children are to watch the videos provided on the main page and also on the 'lesson slideshow.' There are 2 activities to complete but I would advise doing one today and one tomorrow as it is quite a lot for one session. It is probably a good idea to work as a pair for this so either with a sibling or parent if possible. Click on the lesson slideshow and activity sheet to access the resources.
Activity 1- a timeline. Information is provided all about David Attenborough and his achievements etc. There are timeline cards- children are to cut out and put these in order. They can also write out the timeline or number them if easier. This will not only give them more information about David Attenborough an this achievements but also a good skill of using and creating a timeline.
Activity 2- true or false. There are some flash cards with facts on linked to the powerpoint and videos they have watched. The children are to decide if they are true or false. Again, this can be done in a way that is easiest for you.
