Year 6 Home Learning Monday 20th April

Good morning Yr6,

Welcome back to home learning, I hope you had a restful Easter and you are ready to start the summer term - all be it a little different than in school.

You all became brilliant at using Google Classroom and other online platforms before Easter and I will continue to post activities daily for you to complete via Google Classroom, which will be available from 9am each morning.  I have made a little change to how I set the topic work to help with flexibility at home so all topic activities will be posted on a Monday so you can choose when you complete each activity.  Remember to try and complete the literacy, the numeracy and 1 topic each day.  This week however there are two activities you may wish to start today - creating a moon diary and a daily mindfulness yoga routine, although this is up to you.

At the end of last term we decided that Yr4, 5 and 6 would work more collaboratively on out topic activities.  We appreciate how difficult it is trying to complete home school activities and working from home, trying to share technology etc.  Therefore we thought if the topic activities were the same it would help families where there are siblings and parents working from home as some of the activities can be completed at the same time together, when it is most suitable for you.  Also by doing them in any order throughout the week it gives you greater flexibility as a family.

Today's learning activities will be available from 9am on Google Classroom.

Literacy - to create a fact file about the NHS.

Spellings - new spellings are set in your spelling groups.  Ask a member of your family to test you on your previous spellings and let me know how you get on.  Write out your new spellings and as we complete in class write a sentence for each of your spellings.  Remember to complete 10 minutes of spelling journal activities daily throughout the week.

Numeracy - to understand the relationship between fractions and percentages.

This week's topic activities are

Create a timeline showing the history of space travel
Listen and appraise a piece of music
Create a diary showing the phases of the moon
Recap online safety
Create a mindfulness yoga routine

I sent an email to your HWB accounts over the weekend to allow you access to Charanga to complete the music activity - please let me know if you have any difficulties accessing this.

Throughout the week I will also be using some of the new BBC Bitesize daily lesson and these will be set through Google Classroom with links to the correct lesson.

Remember I am available by my HWB email or through the comments on Google Classroom if you have any difficulties.
