Reception Home Learning 22.4.20

Reception Home Learning. Wednesday 22nd April
Good morning everyone and hope you are well.

Literacy
Mrs Garbett's group.
Recap previous sounds.
New sound- or (shut the door).
Sort, short, sport and fork.
Sentence- This is his peg leg.

Mrs Evans group.
Recap previous sounds.
New sound- ee (what can you see?).
See, three, been and green.
Sentence- I put on a red hat.

Mrs Miles group.
Recap all initial sounds and some previous words.
Word time 5 - run, wish, jet and yap.
If you have a pack of f/c with initial sounds, use these otherwise just write the individual sounds down. Place the r sound down and get your child to say the sound, then place the u down and encourage your child to say u, then finally place the n down and say n. Point underneath whilst your child sounds out each individual sound and hopefully they can recognise the word run. If your child cannot say the word, you say it for your child to repeat. Then muddle up the letters for your child to put back in order and say run again. If you have magnetic letters, you could use them. But if not you can make do by just making some flash cards. Repeat this with the other words. Remember in the word wish the sh sound is 1 syllable. I hope that helps as I'm conscious I might be going a little too fast. At this stage it is just lots of repetition. You will get there I promise.

Numeracy
Keep up with the days of the week. I hope you enjoyed using your magical wand!
Can you show your child a clock and explain that there are 2 hands that move around all the time. Perhaps you could show your child specific times during the day. So at 9 0' clock we will do Joe Wick's workout. At 10 0' clock we will have a snack (don't forget to use real money). At 12 0' clock we will have lunch etc. Then hopefully you can show them a second hand on a clock. Explain that it moves once around the clock in 60 seconds. Count together up to 60 whilst you watch the second hand.

All children- Find things you can do in 60 seconds. For eg. How many star jumps can you do?

Most children- Time somebody else doing something in 60 secs. Support them how to say go and stop. Can you meditate for 60 secs?

Challenge- Create a chart with different activities that you can do in 60 secs. Get the whole family to join in. Who can do the most activities, the least? Just make it quite fun.

Topic
Can you draw 5 healthy snacks? Make sure they are all different colours. Talk about their texture before you eat them. Is it simply, smooth, cold, shiny etc. Then can you describe what they taste like? My taste buds are tantalised all ready! See how many times all your family can use the word tantilise

Have fun and remember just do your best and have some fun.

"Everyone is a bit scared,"said the horse.
" But we are less scared together."
