Reception Home Learning 1.5.20

Reception Class Friday 1st May

To the Parents and children of Reception Class.

I can't believe we are nearing the weekend again. Let's hope we get a bit of sunshine.

"How do they look so together and perfect?" asked the boy.

"There's a lot of frantic paddling going on beneath," said the horse.

Literacy

I hope you managed to make a potion at the beginning of the week. I wonder who you cast a spell on! Today we are going to create a love potion to someone we love. Perhaps a grandparent who you haven't been able to see, an auntie, uncle or just a family friend. Perhaps when you have created this, you could send it to a loved one.

How to make a Love Potion

First get a big bowl and sieve in some laughter.

Next add some love and mix together until fluffy.

Then add lots of laughter and grate in several drops of smiles.

After that scatter in as many hugs as you can get in the bowl and whisk together until it is smooth and smelling delicious.

Finally leave in the sunshine until it rises and is soft to touch.

Before you serve, remember to sprinkle lots of kisses.

Voila, your potion is ready to serve.

Now you can make your own potion, the above is just to give you some ideas. But you can pinch some of mine too.

All Children- Draw pictures of each instruction.

Most Children- Underneath each picture, try to write 1 word that describes what you have done. For e.g. mix, roll, chop, whisk etc. We call these words bossy verbs.

Challenge- Try to use words like first, then, next, finally etc. to sequence your instructions. If possible try to write a short sentence to explain your instruction. I'm sure you can support your child to spell words your child is finding a challenge.

Numeracy

Number bonds

Continue to count to 30 and beyond, and Keep doubles on the boil up to 10.

All Children- Use objects to complete these sums- 5+1=  2+1=  4+1= etc. up to 6

Most Children- Complete number bond sums up to 10- 6+1= 7+1 etc. If this is too easy add 2. Encourage your child to use objects to help or their fingers.

Challenge- Missing numbers. 7+--=   4+--+  9+--= etc. up to 10.

 Yoga

Arrow

I am straight as an arrow- Stand on your knees.

I am long and focussed- Extend left leg to left, place right hand under right shoulder, stretch left arm up.

I fly through the air- Press down into hand and foot, slide right foot under left.

I dare to be strong- Bend left knee.

To feel as light as an arrow, align your bones and let them bear your weight. Use your tummy and leg muscles to balance.

Singing

How is the singing going? (Somewhere over the Rainbow).
