Welcome back!
I hope you all had a lovely Easter and enjoyed spending time with each other in the sunshine, but most importantly that you're all keeping safe and well. Daily tasks will be set each week just like before the Easter break, but remember you do not have to complete all of the tasks each day- do what works best for you all. Remember you can complete any of the challenges set- you may start off easier until you're confident then move up a level in order to further challenge yourself.
Literacy
To talk about your favourite story and explain why.
Watch this video on BBC Bitesize- https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zhqsf4j Look at the discussion points- what is your favourite book? What is your favourite story? Do you have a favourite author? Why is it your favourite book/ story? Talk about it first and when you're confident with this, trying writing it into sentences.
Bronze- write the names of the people you live with or your wider family and ask them what their favourite childhood books were. Next to each name, try to write the titles of their favourite books. Do the titles of each book give you some clues about what they might be like? Now you have a list of some books you can read! And you can share your opinion with each person after you've read them.
Silver- write the names of the people you live with or your wider family and ask them what their favourite childhood books were. Next to each name, try to write the titles of their favourite books. Do the titles of each book give you some clues about what they might be like? Watch this video to know when to use conjunctions that join sentences together such as because, if, that and when. There is also an activity online you can do just below the video linking to the same topic https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zhqsf4j
Write about your favourite book/story saying why, as well as somebody else's favourite book and why they like it. Try to use the conjunctions you have looked at in the videos.

There is a story called 'The Magic Faraway Tree'. Take a few minutes to think about the name of the story and discuss what you think it might be about with your family or those around you. Using the sentence stems below, write some simple sentences about what you think the story will be about. Use 'because', 'if' and 'when' in your sentences.
I think _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I hope _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I wonder _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Once you have done this, look at this short video extract and see if you were right or near.

Maths
To find 1 more and 1 less.
Explain it is the same as adding 1 more to a number or subtracting 1 from a number. Try to use the various language- 1 more/ add 1 and 1 less/ subtract 1/ take away 1 so that the children become more familiar with the various terms. It is important the children can quickly and confidently add and subtract 1 from any given number. Start off by asking them to count from any given number until you tell them to stop. Do the same for counting backwards from any given number. Do this several times with different starting points.
Bronze- Use this link for your activity. You will have a number square, use this to work through each of the task given.

Topic
To think of ideas for our new topic
Thank you to those of you who shared your pupil voice suggestions for your new topic. The topic chosen is
'Nature/ Woodland animals.' Your job is to come up with a name for this topic, something exciting and interesting, just like we have done for our other topics. Once you have thought of that I want you to think of all the different activities/ ideas/ things you would like to learn/ find out more about within this topic. This is just like we would normally do in school- we can then use your ideas for out topic activities. Think about things you would like to do- what can make it fun? interesting? help you to learn things etc. You may also like to complete this as we would do in school like a mindmap using paper and pens or even on the computer. Once I have had your ideas and suggestions we can start it- this may well be next week by the time I have had people's ideas- hopefully!
Remember you can upload the work to your file on HWB/ complete on paper/ email me your work if you wish but remember there is no expectation.
Enjoy!
