Reception Home Learning. 23.4.20

Reception Home Learning
Thursday 23rd April.

To the parents of Reception Children,
We are just so lucky with the weather. It would just be so much harder if it was raining!! Perhaps I shouldn't tempt fate.
Have fun.

Literacy

On a Wednesday I would like to recap what we know so far with some with lotto games, bingo or just a treasure hunt around the garden, looking for particular words. You can also use some of the high frequency words too, as they are really important and help with reading.

Mrs Garbett's group
Use words with sounds- ay, ee, igh, ow, oo, oo,ar and or.

Mrs Evans group
Use words with sounds- ch, sh, qu, th, qu, ng, nk, ay and ee.

Mrs Miles group
Use a mixture of words from word time 1-4

Numeracy
Continue with the days of the week and using a timer to complete activities. See previous 2 days if your not sure.

Topic
We all like treats such as chocolate, cakes, biscuits etc. There isn't any food that is bad for us, but there are some foods that we should eat less of. What is your favourite treat? What do you eat for breakfast? Do you have the same breakfast everyday or do you have a different breakfast on the weekend? Can you help your child to create a healthy lunch box and perhaps all have a picnic outside. Can you talk about having a balanced meal with the different food types?

Creative
Make a rainbow stick.
Hopefully you have been able to find some small sticks or twigs. When you have your daily exercise, perhaps all the family could do this- wind some wool or elastic bands around the stick, double sided tape works well too. On your walk, collect tiny pieces of colour such as leaves, blades of grass, petals, seeds etc. and attach to the stick to make a rainbow effect. When you get back home see if you can name your collections. Who has collected the most? Why don't you display them in your garden? Hanging from a tree might look colourful.

Yoga
Lying Twist
I am relaxed- Lie on your back, knees bent.
I give myself a hug- Hug your knees to your chest.
I exhale and twist- Stretch out your arms, lower your legs to the right.
I breathe and lengthen- Turn your head to the left to deepen the stretch.
As you twist, see how slowly you can lower your knees, keeping them together.
To deepen the twist, shift your hips sideways and bring your knees s closer to your elbow. Enjoy the stretch and let go.
