Week two of the enchanted wood. We are going to listen/read up to the point that they think they must see what is up the top of the far away tree. It is the 21.12 minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPiOHF3g1AU.
English-Revise exclamation marks.
We will use this lesson to revise the correct use of the exclamation mark. BBC bitesize has a wonderful lesson on this and we will use some of their resources. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z7ms3dm. You may want to watch their video first.
· Bronze. Complete activity 1 and see if you can spot all the exclamation sentences. (Bonus points if you can identify the types of sentences as well.)
· Silver. Throughout the day can you spot when an exclamation mark would be used? Write down two times someone said something that would use an exclamation mark.
· Gold. Rewatch or reread the enchanted wood section for this week. Can you spot where an exclamation mark would fit in?
Bonus game to play. https://www.bbc.co.uk/games/embed/karate-cats?exitGameUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fbbc.co.uk%2Fbitesize%2Farticles%2Fzdp4pg8
Maths using Carrol diagrams for multiples of 2 and 5
We shall use a Carroll diagram to help sort multiples of 2 and 5 and use this sorting to spot any patterns. They may not be familiar with the term multiple so we tell them that a multiple of 2 is any number that we would say when counting in groups of 2. It might be useful to get them warmed up by counting in 2s and 5s.

· Bronze. Using the powerpoint saved in HWB maths called Carroll diagram multiples of 2 and 5 to sort the numbers. To help them it would be worth creating a large version of the Carroll diagram using chalk or A3 paper. They could then recreate the numbers using lego bricks or bundles of sticks and string with a sticky note of that number on top. This way they can physically check whether the numbers can be split into groups of 2 or groups of 5
· Silver. Can they come up with any patterns that they can see? An example would be all the numbers that end with a 0 is always a multiple of 5 and 2.
· Gold. All multiples of 5 are even numbers. Is this statement correct? Ask the learners to proof this statement is false/correct using their Carroll diagram. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3uxBI9npas is a refresher on odd or even numbers. All even numbers end in 2, 4, 6, 8 and 0 whereas all odd numbers end in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.
Topic-Flower hunt and pressing.
This learning task involves picking flowers. Only touch flowers that you are certain will be safe with parental consent. Be aware some of the plants in the flower hunt sheet will hurt such as bramble and nettle so do not attempt to pick these.
We are going to identify some common plants and have a go at pressing them to preserve the plant. :Pressed plants can be used to make art, cards or even create herbarium sheets. (Pages that help people identify plants found in the wild)
· Bronze. See how many different types of plants you can find on the flower and plant guide.
· Silver. Pick examples of the plants that you find and press them. This process can take 2/3 weeks and it is best to dry the flowers first to prevent mouldy pages. https://www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/how-to-press-flowers.html is a brilliant website for how to press plants, and also has a video guide. Please visit this website before picking and pressing plants.
· Gold. Create little notes to go with each type of plant you press. These notes should include the name of the plant, where it was found and the date. (Plant: Daisy Found: garden date picked: 16/06/20.
