Year 2 Monday 29 June 2020

Welcome to another week! I can't believe it is also the end of the summer term and Y2!! I know some of you will be in school this week for your check in sessions, I hope that it all goes well! If you are not attending then you can carry on with your online/ distance learning. Also please don't worry about completing your distance learning on the days you are in for your sessions! Just do what you can!

Literacy

To role play a scene

Today we are going to use our skills of speaking and listening. You are going to create your own Home School. Think about who will be in your class and what you are going to 'teach' them. Think about the routine in school- can you take the register and tell them a story with a meaning in assembly? Then plan what lessons you will 'teach' them; will you teach them some sounds in RWInc or write a story, number bonds or shapes in numeracy and what will you do for your topic- will you take them outside, maybe even go to forest school

During your lesson- think about the use of your voice and the use of clear instructions to help your 'pupils' understand what you would like them to learn today. Think about how important it is for them to listen to the instructions that you give too Perhaps siblings or mums/dads will be your pupils! I hope they are well behaved and no ambers or reds!

Have fun I'm sure you'll have lots of fun teaching today using your role play skills- I can't wait to see and hear about how you get on! I'm sure your families will enjoy being part of the lessons too! I wonder if you will take on the role of any of the staff from Trellech?!

Maths
To halve numbers
Today we will recap halving numbers in particular odd numbers. I know some of you have mentioned this during the clic tests. On the Year 2 shared folder on HWB are the instructions and activities to complete. Please also go over timetables ensuring confidence and rapid recall in and out of order. You could mix this up with TTblast on J2E, hit the button on Topmarks or even have your own mini fire/ hot seat competition.

Topic
To design your own circus
Over the next few weeks we will have a mini topic of the 'Circus.' First of all think about what a circus is? What is the purpose of it? What acts/ animals/ people do you find at the circus? Have you ever been? What did you think of it? If not, what do you think it would be like? I want you to then have a look at the powerpoint on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB which shows a few things that happen at the circus if you are unsure. Also have a look online at the different colours and styles of circus tents. Then, I want you to design your own circus. What acts will you have? Who will carry them out? Will you have any animals? What will your circus tent look like? You may decide to draw and label your circus or create an animation. You may even choose to make it 3d.

Enjoy!
