Literacy
To write a poem
As it is Father's Day on Sunday, your Literacy today is to write a Father's Day poem. Think about all the fun/ exciting/ good things that you love about your dad. You may want to jot all your ideas down first like a mind map. What does Dad do that you really enjoy? Does he help you? Make you your favourite food? Tell jokes? Play a sport with you etc. Have a go at rhyming if you can or simply choose and acrostic poem. You may also wish to do one for your Grandad or Uncle! Once you are happy with your poem, write it out in best to go inside your card!

Maths
To sort 2d and 3d shapes.
Using the BBC Bitesize lesson here, work through the videos/ activities and games linked to sorting and understanding 2d and 3d shapes. Remind your child that a polygon is simply a shape- try to use both names for it so they get used to it. Regular polygon means all sides are the same size and irregular polygon means they are different. If a random shape has 5 sides- it is still a pentagon but it is irregular. You may also decide to work through some activities linking to this- ask the children to draw and label regular and irregular shapes.

Topic
To make a Father's Day card
If we were in school we would be making Father's Day cards ready for Sunday with our poems written inside! You can create your own card and design or you can have a go and use the ideas on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB! Don't worry if you don't have the correct colours etc you can always change these!

Enjoy!
