To read and understand a story and complete activities
Using the Sport Wales Play to learn resource, children will now read the story 'Beach Party.' This can be found on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB. Before reading it, predict what will happen in the story just from the title and picture. Let the children read the story aloud- some words they may need help on. Remember to use your sounds to sound out. Then read it a second time discussing what has happened. Was your prediction correct? Once you have read the story and are confident with it, there are 2 activities on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB ( each have 3 activity cards) You may decide to choose ' Jumping Jade' or 'Pebble plop' and complete the activities from one particular set. It looks at developing key movement skills linked to PE/ movement/ dance. You may decide to do them both. I would love to see some videos of any activities you do.
Maths
To find different possibilities and work systematically
This is a reasoning activity of applying their skills to other contexts- linked to addition and subtraction still. There is a powerpoint on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB which should be looked at first. The Mouse family are deciding what they can take with them on holiday whilst following weight restrictions! Something I am sure all of us struggle with!! Working through the powerpoint and then the resources on the Year 2 shared folder on HWB, children will find the different combinations of items they could take on holiday whilst sticking to the weight guidelines. There are differentiated levels on there but you may decide to work through them all.
Topic
To explore the outdoors and research an item of nature
Today is also meant to be another warm, sunny day. Make sure you spend some time outside thinking about the environment- what you can see/ hear/ smell etc. I have been able to hear the ice cream van a few times! I want you to choose your favourite flower/ insect/ tree in your garden and find out more about it. Perhaps draw a picture of it or take a photo of it and then find out some information it.
Enjoy!
