Literacy

Mrs Garbett's Group.

Today will be the igh sound. Make 4 words with igh sound. Get your child to identify the special friends (igh) and then blend and read the word. After a few recaps you can say the word for your child to write down. Do this with the 4 words and then 1 recap word (ee word). Mark together. Remember to use tall and short letters, (they are not all the same size). Tall letters should touch the top of the line and small letters half way. If you can see your child forming letters incorrectly, just practise a line of one of them. Dictate this sentence several times and then encourage your child to write it down- The cat had six fish.

Mrs Evans group.

Today will be the qu sound. Make 2 words with qu sound. Get your child to identify the special friends (qu) and then blend and read the word. After a few recaps you can say the word for your child to write down. Do this with the 2 words and then 1 recap sh word? Mark together. Remember to use tall and short letters, (they are not all the same size). Tall letters should touch the top of the line and small letters half way. If you can see your child forming letters incorrectly, just practise a line of one of them. Dictate this sentence several times and then encourage your child to write it down- I sit on a mat. Mark together. There are not many qu words that the children can sound out, that's why I've said 2 today. (quiz, quit).

Mrs Miles group.

Recap all initial sounds. This is really important. Then blend and read these words-Word time 4- met, fun, log and hit. Then dictate one word at a time and encourage your child to write it down. Mark together. Please support your child to form letters correctly with the handwriting sheet that they should have in their sound folders.

Numeracy.

Subtraction- Continue with yesterday's activities using additional language. Take away, subtract and less than. You can always takeaway 2 if it's too easy. But I know subtraction can be tricky to begin with.

Don't forget to practise your number formation too.

Mindfulness-Try and make time to do this daily and encourage the whole family to do it. It's so much nicer to do it outside in the sunshine too. Don't forget to close your eyes and just try to focus on you breathing. Only do the deep breaths at the very beginning, not when you are relaxing. Perhaps a nice body stretch at the end. Then see if you can balance on 1 leg with your arms stretched to the sky.

Topic

Now we are at home all the time, perhaps you can think of 2 ways you are going to try and save energy. This can be done orally or you can draw a picture. Remember our song to hang your washing on the line, put extra clothing on if it gets chilly etc.

Welsh

Recap these language patterns-

Boreda- Good morning

Prynhawn da- Good afternoon

Nos da – Goodnight

Pwy wyt ti? How are you? Respond by saying bendigedig (fantastic), wedi blino (tired) or da iawn diolch (very well thank you).

My email address is- MilesD8@hwbmail.net if you need to contact me.
