Year 4 Monday 4th May

Year 4 w/c 4.5.20

What a busy week it was last week! So much wonderful learning from you all and we have really been enjoying the photographs from those of you who have been working just as hard in your books.  The 75th anniversary of VE Day is happening this week on Friday 8th May, so we thought it was so important that our work was centered around this.  There is four days work planned as Friday is a bank holiday.

Numeracy

Everything for maths is based on VE Day and World War Two.  The first task is to buy equipment for troops using addition and subtraction that we have been working on.  The catalogue is the same for silver and gold, but you have different questions.  The task is meant to take you two days as it is quite a long one.

Literacy

Your first task this week is to make an acrostic poem. Take a look on google classroom and all the instructions are there for you.  There is also a task called A-Z where we would like you to think of all the things that make you happy (again full instructions on google classroom).

Topic

We have made four VE based topic activities for you to complete in any order.  They consist of making a peg plane, designing a commemorative mug, designing and making bunting and using your knowledge of forces for science.

Spellings

These will be set on a Monday – learn them throughout the week and then get somebody at home to test you on a Friday. I would really like to know your scores if you want to put them on the stream for google classroom.

Welsh for the week

For Welsh, this week you will need the matching activity from last week.  Firstly, I would like you to translate the descriptions of the animals that you have already matched up.   You can do this on a google docs or on paper, whichever is easiest for you and your family.  Secondly, see the bronze, silver or gold task for creating your own animal descriptions.

Stay safe, look after your families and enjoy your learning!
