Year 5 04.05.20

Good morning everyone! I hope you've had a restful weekend and are ready for another week of online learning. This Friday marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day, so we will be taking a break from our Space topic and centring our learning on WWII.

As you all know by now, today's tasks will be available on Google Classroom from 9am, with full instructions and any resources you might need

Maths - working out a rationing shopping list and costs
Literacy - writing a VE Day postcard

Spellings for the week are uploaded today - remember to learn, and ask someone at home to test you at the end of the week. Well done to those of you who are learning more difficult spellings than normal and getting great scores!

Keep going with j2blast to develop  quicker recall of times table/ division facts, which will make your other Maths work much easier!!

Please also continue with daily reading - at least 10 to 15 minutes a day ideally. This could be a book, a magazine, a newspaper or even a website such as Newsround.

I have also posted this week's topic activities - these can be completed throughout the week when it suits you, and remember that the bigger tasks don't need to be completed all in one go. Feel free to return to the work as often as you wish.
ICT - Coding - (Star Wars Day - create a galaxy)
Art - design and make bunting to decorate your house/ garden for a Stay at Home Street Party
Art - design your own commemorative cup
Science and Technology - design a fighter plane/ make a peg plane

I have also uploaded a selection of other WWII related activities that you  might like to have a go at throughout the week.

Please keep sharing photos of what you're getting up to, I really enjoy seeing them!
