Year One: Thursday 2nd April 2020

I hope you are all staying safe and well. It's very strange not seeing you all but I hope you're doing a little bit at home and enjoying having time with your families. The weather is still fine which is always good, so make sure you get outside in the garden and make the most of the fresh air. I can see from the work you have been sharing that you have been doing lots of lovely things outside. I am really enjoying seeing your work, it does make me smile.

RWInc  continue to have live lessons via YouTube so they will help us keep our ‘sounds on the boil’ whilst we are at home.  These will take place daily and can be located via the following link:

 https://youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ…

Set 1 Speed Sounds at 9.30 am and again at 12.30 pm

Set 2 Speed Sounds at 10.00 am and again at 1.00 pm

Set 3 Speed Sounds at 10.30 am and again at 1.30 pm

Note: films won’t be available at other times

Daily Lessons that have already been shown will be repeated over the Easter Break excluding Bank Holidays.

They also have Poetry Time on Youtube at 2pm each day, they are also available afterwards.

Literacy:

Today we will make a collection of nouns and adjectives about Spring and Eastertime. You can record this in the books you brought home from school or using J2e5 via Just2easy via Hwb. You may like to go outside and identify signs of Spring that you can name.....You may like to use the Encyclopedia Britannica which is available via Hwb as a starting point for your safe search into Easter and Springtime. Some fun facts maybe found at  http://www.fun-facts.org.uk/holidays/easter.

Your challenge today is to find out why we often give eggs to each other at Easter Time- good luck, enjoy your research.

Easter Challenge: I’ve saved an Easter Challenge in our files section (Hwb Classroom) that you might like to complete. The first activity would be useful to complete as it is a text about Easter followed by some questions linked to the text. Please don’t worry about printing out- I know that printers, paper and ink maybe a challenge at the moment!

Reading: We are mindful that you will have read your reading book by now but don’t forget to read a book if you have one at home or listen to a story read by someone in your home. You can also access books (inc RWInc Books) via www.oxfordowl.co.uk (the home section). You will need to log-on but the e-books can be accessed for free.

Numeracy:

Today please find in the Year 1 Hwb Class folder a resource helping us look at counting in 10s. The focus is on counting arrays of 10. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ (Week 2 lesson 2)

This does not need to be printed out and stuck in your book, only if wish/ are able to.
To challenge yourself try and count objects from around the home or garden.

Bronze: count orally in ten’s

Silver: Count in tens and record as we would in x10 table (e.g. 1x10=  )

Gold: Count objects in groups of 2 and 5 (How many groups of 2 will have a total of 10 objects?)

Health & Well Being:

Today is our PE lesson so start with Joe Wicks (@thebodycoach)  at 9.am  on YouTube. A great way to start the day for all the family.

We have used the MiniMeYoga cards in our lessons before I’ve included 4 here to ensure we remain balanced. Try and teach someone in your home the positions, so they learn a new skill too. We would love to see some pictures especially if you manage to do them outside in the fresh air! Enjoy our favourite Tickle Toes!!

Finish with some Mindful Colouring!
